It's getting closer...!

With help from travel agencies, the PhD Tour is getting more and more real every day. We are booking flight tickets, arranging transportation between the different cities, making some last-minute changes to the program after we discovered that organisations in Quebec are sometimes more close to Montreal than to Quebec... To keep our spirits up, we received confirmation of a new sponsor! NZO is willing to contribute to the tour. This means that our piggy bank is getting fuller and fuller, and we only need a few more sponsors to make the tour financially feasible.

We are happy to announce that already eight highly ranked universities and institutes in our field will be happy to welcome us! The last weeks we started reaching out to universities and institutes, which resulted in very enthusiastic e-mail contact to even some highly energetic skype meetings. To find out which eight locations confirmed their participation in the tour: check our programme. We are very thrilled by the Canadian enthusiasm, and we can not wait to further finalize our programme!
First sponsors on board!

Maybe the most important part in organising the 2019 PhD tour is acquiring the financial means. Therefore, we are very happy to have our first two sponsors on board: Meijer & Meijaard, and Proefschriftmaken.nl! We sincerely thank them for their financial contributions to the tour. Both companies are closely related to us PhD students. Meijer & Meijaard is well-known for their excellent courses, of which Career Perspectives is a very popular one. Proefschriftmaken is the company that is the best friend of PhD students in the most exciting stage of their PhD: designing and printing their thesis. Proefschriftmaken also hosts workshops for those who want to know more about finalizing their thesis. We hope that many more sponsoring companies will follow!
Successful kick-off meeting

After a successful kick-off presentation, more than 20 PhD students are excited to join the PhD tour 2019. Also many staff members have expressed their interest in joining the tour. A lot of staff members have connections with researchers in Canada, so they view this tour as a great opportunity to strengthen these connections and establish new ones. Who knows which successful collaborations may arise from this tour....?!
